Role Overview:

Island Gold Mine is looking for an Underground Mine Technician to fill the role of Drill & Blast planner.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the responsibilities of a Drill & Blast Planner include:

  • Create drilling and blasting print packages for underground long hole stopes.
  • Reconcile drilling and mucking metrics with stope Cavity Monitor Surveys (CMS).
  • Organize stope design strategy sessions with input from with Ground Control, Geology, Operations and other Mine Departments as required.
  • Provide input during development of shore-range schedules, mine plans and production forecasts that support operational execution and corporate objectives.
  • Maintain and improve technical standards and best practices for drill & blast planning.
  • Track daily drilling KPIs and coordinate with mine operations to identify issues, improve performance, and ensure plan adherence
  • Perform routine drillhole gyro surveys to verify drillhole alignment and accuracy.
  • Conduct regular underground inspections of active and planned drill and blast areas.
  • Provide mentoring and training to new Drill & Blast planners entering the role.
  • Provide coverage for the short-term planner as required.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the needs of the business

What You Bring To The Table:

  • Mine Technician Diploma and minimum 5 years of underground mining experience.
  • Experience in narrow vein, long hole bulk mining.
  • Underground technical experience particularly in: CAD design, drill & blast design, operations management
  • Excellent knowledge of underground development and production drilling & blasting.
  • The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
  • The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Proficiency in Deswik, Autocad and Promine preferred.

Working Conditions:

This position is based in a camp operation working on a 14/14 rotational schedule with flights provided from Toronto, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Rouyn-Noranda.

  • Pay or shift range: $62,250 and $112,150 CAD

This is an existing vacancy. The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
