The Role
Our client is a growing and reputable food processing plant based Delta, BC, and on their behalf, we are looking for an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their growing maintenance team! Class 3 or Class 4 is preferred, with strong mechanical ability on diesel engines, forklifts, tractors, skid steers, and loaders. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers great benefits and the opportunity to expand your experience!!
The position directly reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for providing a safe, comfortable operating environment by directing installation, maintenance, and repair of machines, tools, equipment, and utility systems.
This position requires the ability to workMonday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday, starting at 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic procedures and faultfinding on equipment (loaders, MEWP's, tractors, forklifts, MHE's).
- Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment in accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
- Maintain, service, and repair equipment used throughout the facility. This includes locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Ensure proper operation of equipment through checks and tests. Replace or repair defective parts in equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production breakdowns.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Interpret technical manuals to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements.
- Execute routine scheduled Planned Maintenance (PM) services, appraisals, and Safety Inspections.
- Accurately complete all necessary timecards and required report documentation.
- Maintain clear and effective communication of repair status and requirements with customers and supervisors.
- Use of computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic with expertise in the field.
- Class 3 or Class 4 Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship level.
- Excellent skills in conducting diagnostics and performing repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and interpreting schematics.
- Experience working with carrying out maintenance on some of the following equipment: loaders, MEWP's, tractors, forklifts, MHE's.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, allowing for efficient identification and resolution of equipment issues.
- Ability to work as part of a team and also be proactive and work on own initiative.
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Time management and priority management skills.
Compensation & Perks:
- $40 per hour (depending on experience and tickets)
- Benefits and a $500 Health spending account
- After 1 year, RSP matching (50% company match). 2% after 2nd year and progresses to 6% after 6 years of employment
