Fort Rupert Elementary School, Port Hardy, BC
0.60 FTE Continuing – Teacher Librarian, Grade 6/7, and Prep
Commencing: September 1, 2026
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- elementary teaching experience;
- strong classroom management skills;
- the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
- academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience as a teacher librarian;
- strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff, and parents in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning;
- strong formative assessment practices;
- ability to communicate student learning through the use of digital portfolio assessment and three way conferencing;
- experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems;
- ability to integrate technology to enhance student learning;
- strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
- ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.
The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $69,345 to $119,496, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $3,220 over ten months.
