This is a 6 months' part-time Night (Nurse) Supervisor position.
Hours of work are from 10 pm to 6 am with alternating weekends.
The hourly rate for this role ranges from $38.50 - $40 CAD.

This position reports to the Director of Care and ensures a resident centered care approach, ensures the provision of all care services meet regulation and best practices. This position is responsible for the nursing team in each home area, and for strong relationships between HMLTC and residents/families.
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Night Supervisor is accountable to provide professional nursing care to residents and supervise care given by RNs, RPNs & PSWs. The Night Supervisor will ensure residents receive excellent care and services, while ensuring operational excellence for each resident home area. The Night Supervisor will lead the nursing team with care activities, ensure completion of all documentation and will be a key liaison for all residents and family members. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, direct, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate resident care services;
- Oversee clinical care processes, ensuring delivery according to individual plans of care on night shift, and report issues to the daytime clinical
leadership;
- Liaise with hospital, doctors, external providers, and interdisciplinary service for effective care delivery;
- Actively participate in committees and run in-services/education as needed for night shift;
- Coordinate the development, implementation, review, and evaluation of resident care plan, while ensuring timely completion of RAI-MDS
assessments.
- Promote a resident-first philosophy, upholding the Resident Bill of Rights and FLTCA (Fixing Long Term Care Act) regulations;
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for a resident-centered care approach;
- Ensures the supply, control and safe keeping of drugs and narcotics, ensures protocols are followed on all assigned shifts, and that all medication is accurately recorded and stored;
- Ensures all medication errors are reported to the Director of Care in a timely manner, participating in all associated investigations;
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social needs of the residents, ensuring all suggestions and findings are communicated to the interdisciplinary team.
- Keep residents and families updated on health status and changes;
- Ensure quality care and a safe, effective, and efficient work environment;
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing care delivered;
- Lead in the coordination and implementation of best practices and risk management initiatives;
- Conduct regular audits and in-services for continuous quality improvement;
- Maintain accurate and complete records of nursing care delivered;
- Demonstrate a professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care;
- Follows all policies and procedures; contribute to the development of nursing policies;
- Respond to all emergencies immediately and act as the incident manager until relieved by a manager or emergency services;
- Follow up on all concerns/complaints in a timely and professional manner;
- With support of the Director of Care, directs, supervises, evaluates, and performance manages personal support workers and registered team members;
- Monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals, and working with the Director of Care to resolve performance concerns;
- Leads, coaches, and mentors team members; supports continued learning opportunities and fosters a positive working environment;
- Act as the department lead for staff training, education, and professional development;
- Collaborate with the Director of Care in the implementation and evaluation of the nursing department initiatives and functions
- Works with the Director of Care, and other leaders as needed, to conduct investigations as needed and production of associated findings reports;
- Oversees human resources functions including scheduling, orientation, health, and safety, return to work plans and performance management (progressive discipline, absenteeism management etc.)
- Models and fosters an environment of positive customer service in all aspects of care
- Always carries oneself in a professional and personable manner; always ensuring appropriate conversation and interactions with all stakeholders;
- Ensures residents and/or families are kept up to date on health status, changes, and other pertinent information from HMLTC;
- Respond to resident and family concerns and reports to Director of Care or designate in a timely manner;
- Act as a role model for nursing team members performing within the professional guidelines of College of Nurses, ensuring professional and respectful interactions with all stakeholders and interdisciplinary team members
