Job Summary:

The Senior Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive business analysis services within the Information & Information Technology (I&IT) domain. This role involves engaging with business stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze requirements, and to develop strategies that align business needs with technological solutions. The position requires leadership in business analysis practices, process improvements, and collaboration across diverse teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct detailed business analysis to assess client business problems and opportunities.
  • Gather, document, and analyze business requirements through various techniques including JAD sessions, interviews, and mockups.
  • Prepare and advise on business analysis policies, processes, best practices, and standards.
  • Develop strategies, business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and feasibility studies for I&IT initiatives.
  • Conduct business modeling including use case, data, process, and flow modeling.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and report regularly to management and stakeholders.
  • Develop performance measures and traceability matrices for business analysis evaluation and follow-up.
  • Manage product backlog items, refine requirements, and communicate changes to project managers and team leads.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers and business analysts to plan and facilitate user testing sessions.
  • Explain complex technical analyses, options, and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Proven experience with Agile project methodology and managing product backlogs.
  • Strong skills in assembling requirements into clear, concise user stories with defined acceptance criteria.
  • Proficiency in SQL database querying.
  • Experience in API design, integration, and defining technical requirements.
  • Hands-on experience creating and managing user stories using Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with I&IT management, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting requirements in formats suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of systems design, development, testing, and implementation.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
  • Knowledge of Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
  • Familiarity with business functional modeling, event modeling, and process mapping.
  • Experience in structured, object-oriented, and agile methodologies for user requirements.
  • Experience developing performance measures and conducting follow-up evaluations.
  • Understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related standards.
  • Experience using AI tools for business requirements documentation and analysis.
  • Public sector experience, particularly within education systems.
  • Experience with information retrieval packages.

Special Considerations:

  • Must work onsite at the office location 5 days per week.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to engage in stakeholder consultations and user testing sessions.

Scheduling:

  • Standard full-time schedule with 5 days per week onsite attendance required.
