Role overview

Overnight Senior Companion – Mandarin & English

Location: Vancouver, BC
Schedule: Overnight shifts (schedule to be determined)

About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and patient Mandarin-speaking Overnight Senior Companion to care for an elderly family member during overnight hours. This role is ideal for someone who values caring for seniors, understands the importance of respect and dignity, and enjoys providing companionship in a warm family environment. Speaking Mandarin is essential to ensure clear communication and meaningful companionship, while English is required for communicating with family members. The successful candidate will provide overnight supervision, assist with occasional needs, and help ensure the senior remains comfortable, safe, and well cared for throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities

Overnight Care & Companionship

  • Provide overnight companionship and supervision.
  • Assist with nighttime bathroom visits when required.
  • Help ensure the senior's comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the night.
  • Maintain a calm, peaceful, and secure environment.

Personal Support

  • Prepare water, medications, or other nighttime necessities as directed by the family.
  • Offer reassurance, conversation, and emotional support when needed.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Assist with light overnight care as required.

Communication

  • Observe and report any changes in the senior's condition or well-being.
  • Communicate overnight updates and concerns to family members.
  • Follow established care routines and family instructions.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Mandarin and English (required).
  • Previous experience in senior care, companion care, caregiving, healthcare, or a similar role is preferred.
  • Warm, patient, compassionate, and reliable.
  • Strong communication and observation skills.
  • Comfortable working overnight shifts.
  • Able to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
