WELLNESS WORKER (WW) - RHSW/IDS/MMIWG/TICSW/HARDYREQUIRED in Prince George, Kamloops and Chilliwack

Position SummaryThe Wellness Worker (WW)-(RHSW/IDS/MMIWG/TICSW/HARDY) provides or facilitates support services to former Indian Residential School (IRS) students and their family members. This may include emotional support, cultural support, and other types of short-term crisis support to Survivors, Intergenerational Survivors, and families in First Nation communities both rural and urban. The WW also provides presentation and workshop facilitation services on a variety of culturally safe and appropriate topics and practices.
Wellness Workers play a key role in addressing these needs by providing trauma-informed, culturally safe emotional, spiritual, and wellness support; Supporting individuals, children, youth, and families with holistic wellness planning that integrates cultural and clinical approaches; Facilitating access to traditional healing practices, Elders, and community-based supports; Delivering flexible, ongoing support responsive to varying timelines and changing needs throughout the claims process; Strengthening connections to culture, community, and identity through workshops, outreach, and land-based or cultural activities
Key Responsibilities

Provide frontline emotional, mental health, cultural, and crisis support
Conduct intake, assessment, and referrals to counselling, Elders, and community programs
Provide emotional and cultural support to claimants through the settlement process with flexible, ongoing wellness supports
Facilitate healing, wellness, and mental health workshops and cultural activities
Support community events, including Truth and Reconciliation initiatives
Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities and partners
Maintain accurate client records and contribute to program reporting
Engage in ongoing self-care and professional development aligned with trauma-informed practice

Qualifications & Experience

Post-secondary education in Social Services, Counselling, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting individuals affected by trauma and mental health challenges
Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and Indigenous wellness approaches
Understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and healing practices
Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills

Term: Full-Time Term PositionLocation: Can work out of one of the following offices - Kamloops, Prince George or ChilliwackSalary: Starting at $65,000.00 - dependent on skills and experiences.Benefits: Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Cultural Days, Wellness Days, after 90 days - Employer paid benefits plan and GIA matched savings.Status: Hybrid - 60% community events/travel with 40% administrative responsibilties - may very.Deadline: Until filled with a qualified and aligned candidates are recrutied.
