Infrastructure Engineer responsible for filling a critical gap in managing and securing AWS-focused infrastructure with legacy VMware migration, emphasizing automation, patch management, and security best practices. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE we want the candidate to arrive with:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/ computer engineering or equivalent work experience
Requires 4+ years related experience
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES assigned to the role:
Infrastructure Management
Design, implement and maintain a patch-management process for AWS infrastructure and legacy VMware vSphere environments
Monitor system performance and capacity planning across AWS and transitioning infrastructure
Manage backup and disaster recovery procedures
Automate routine maintenance tasks and system provisioning
Security & Compliance
Assist in updating security models to move towards least-privilege implementations
Implement and maintain security monitoring and alerting systems
Infrastructure security hardening and vulnerability management
Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 27001, PCI DSS, etc.)
Automation & Monitoring
Automate key processes to improve efficiency across AWS infrastructure
Build monitoring and observability systems using industry-standard tools
Operations & Support
Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis
Participate in incident response and post-mortem reviews
Support change management processes and approval workflows
Manage incident escalation procedures and coordinate with team members
Documentation & Collaboration
Maintain system documentation and runbooks (includes creating documentation that does not currently exist)
Provide technical guidance to development teams
Collaborate with security teams on threat mitigation
Work alongside DBA, network engineer, and DevOps engineer to ensure infrastructure reliability and security standards
