Daytime Household Assistant & Senior Companion – Mandarin & English

Location: Vancouver, BC
Schedule: Full-Time Daytime Hours (schedule to be determined)

About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and organized Mandarin-speaking Household Assistant & Senior Companion to support an elderly family member and assist with day-to-day household management.

This role combines meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, companionship, and general household support. The ideal candidate is warm, patient, proactive, and enjoys helping seniors maintain an active, comfortable, and independent lifestyle. Speaking Mandarin is essential to provide meaningful companionship and clear communication with the senior, while English is required to communicate with family members.

Key Responsibilities

Household Support

Prepare nutritious, home-style meals and snacks.
Plan grocery shopping and manage household supplies.
Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and home organization.
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment.

Senior Care & Companionship

Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement.
Encourage and accompany daily walks and light physical activity.
Support healthy daily routines and overall well-being.
Provide medication and hydration reminders.
Observe and communicate any changes in the senior's well-being to family members.

Transportation & Daily Assistance

Drive and accompany the senior to medical appointments, errands, shopping, and social activities.
Assist with scheduling appointments and coordinating daily activities.
Support other household or personal tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Fluent in Mandarin and English (required).
Valid BC Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
Previous experience in senior care, companion care, household management, caregiving, hospitality, or a related role is preferred.
Strong cooking and meal preparation skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Warm, patient, dependable, and professional.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
