Role overview

Build Something Real. Lead Something Meaningful. Grow With Us.

This Isn't Your Typical Finance Role

If you've spent years perfecting the craft of accounting and you're ready to stop being a cost center and start being a growth driver — this is your seat at the table.

We're a fast-growing multi-property resort company operating across Canada and the United States, and we're looking for a sharp, entrepreneurially-minded financial leader who wants to be part of building something exceptional. Not just reporting on the numbers — but shaping them.

This is a rare opportunity for a Director of finance who is hungry, strategic, and ready to take ownership of the financial engine of a thriving hospitality business.

The Opportunity

As our Director of Finance & Accounting, you won't be buried in a back office somewhere. You'll be a core member of our leadership team — working directly with ownership and resort operators to drive performance, unlock growth, and build the financial infrastructure that scales with us.

You'll have real authority, real visibility, and real impact across everything from daily operations to long-term capital strategy. If you've ever wanted to run the finance function like you own it — this is that job.

What You'll Own

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Full ownership of accounting operations across U.S. and Canadian resort entities — AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Deliver clean, insightful monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements that actually drive decisions
  • Consolidate multi-entity financials and deliver variance analysis and performance narratives that operations leadership can act on
  • Lead cash flow forecasting and liquidity strategy — keeping the business ahead of its seasonal cycles

Budgeting, Forecasting & Growth Planning

  • Own the annual budgeting process across all resort properties
  • Build rolling forecasts and financial models that support both operational decisions and capital investment
  • Partner directly with Resort Managers to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and close gaps — you are their financial co-pilot

Cross-Border Expertise

  • Navigate U.S. and Canadian tax compliance with confidence — federal, state, provincial, payroll, sales, occupancy, and cross-border reporting
  • Maintain intercompany transactions, allocations, and eliminations with precision
  • Bridge U.S. GAAP and Canadian accounting standards across a unified reporting framework
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors as a true peer, not a paper-pusher

Systems, Process & Scale

  • Level up our accounting tech stack, reporting tools, and financial workflows
  • Standardize procedures across all properties so we scale efficiently and cleanly
  • Train resort managers and administrative teams to be financially fluent — you make the whole organization smarter

Strategic & Operational Partnership

  • Provide financial guidance on pricing strategy, capital projects, ROI analysis, and new property opportunities
  • Analyze resort performance, occupancy trends, revenue mix, and cost structures with a builder's mindset
  • Strengthen internal controls and champion a culture of financial accountability at every level

Who You Are

You're not looking for a quiet corner office. You're looking for ownership, challenge, and the chance to make a mark. You might be:

  • A Controller who's ready to step up and lead a full finance function
  • A finance professional in hospitality, real estate, or multi-entity environments who's craving more strategic influence
  • A professional who thinks like an entrepreneur and wants the business to feel like yours

You bring:

5+ years of progressive accounting experience — multi-entity/hospitality experience is a strong plus

Solid U.S./Canadian GAAP knowledge; accounting standards familiarity is an asset

Cross-border operations experience — or the confidence and drive to own it quickly

Excel-based financial modelling chops and comfort with modern accounting platforms

A communicator's instincts — you can translate complex financials into clear decisions for non-financial leaders

Valid passport and flexibility to travel between U.S. and Canadian properties

An entrepreneurial mindset — you see problems as puzzles and processes as opportunities

What We Offer

  • A seat at the leadership table — not a reporting line buried in a org chart
  • Direct access to ownership — your work will be seen, valued, and acted on
  • A growing company — new properties, new markets, and the chance to grow alongside us
  • Hybrid flexibility with periodic travel to stunning resort locations across Ontario and New York State
  • A culture that rewards initiative — we're builders, and we want people who build
  • Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role with periodic on-site travel to our resort properties across Ontario and Western New York. Our business runs on seasonal rhythms — peak periods are intense and energizing, off-season periods are when we plan, build, and get ahead. If you thrive in a business that's always moving and you love the idea of doing your best work from a dock overlooking a lake — you'll fit right in.
