Role overview

Job Summary:

The Process Improvement Specialist for Postsecondary Enrolment Services will lead initiatives to review and enhance up to five student service business processes within a college setting. This role focuses on identifying inefficiencies, conducting root-cause analysis, facilitating workshops, and designing improved future-state processes to support the college's Strategic Enrolment Management goals.
Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze existing student service business processes including Indigenous Student Sponsorship, Academic Advising, and Admissions.
  • Identify pain points and conduct root-cause analysis to uncover process inefficiencies.
  • Map current-state and develop future-state process flows using process mapping and value stream mapping techniques.
  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to gather input and drive consensus on process improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in complex service environments.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment and support for process changes.
  • Develop and present work plans and progress reports to project sponsors.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in Process Improvement or Continuous Improvement roles.
  • Lean or Lean Six Sigma certification or formal training.
  • Proficiency in process mapping, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience creating current-state and future-state business process maps.
  • Proven ability to lead improvement initiatives in complex service environments.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience working within higher education institutions such as colleges or universities.
  • Familiarity with student services, admissions, or registrar functions.
  • Background in public sector organizations.
  • Experience with change management and business transformation initiatives.

Special Considerations:

  • Primarily onsite presence required in Ottawa for workshops, process walkthroughs, and improvement events.
  • Some hybrid work may be possible but significant onsite attendance is expected.
  • Contract duration is up to 6 months.
  • Team-based proposals are acceptable.

Scheduling:

  • Work schedule primarily aligned with standard business hours on-site in Ottawa.
  • Scheduling flexibility may be required to accommodate workshops and stakeholder availability.
