Sales Consultant – Supplemental Home Heating SolutionsLocation: Sudbury, Ontario

Compensation: $36,000 Base Salary + Commission + Store Performance Bonuses

We are seeking a motivated Sales Consultant who enjoys helping homeowners find practical solutions for their heating and comfort needs.

This is not a high-volume transactional sales role. Success in this position comes from understanding a customer's situation, asking the right questions, and recommending the most suitable heating solution based on their home, lifestyle, and budget.

The ideal candidate has experience selling home-related products and is comfortable discussing technical and practical considerations with homeowners. Previous hearth industry experience is an asset, but candidates with experience in HVAC, building materials, appliances, windows and doors, kitchens, baths, home improvement, or similar industries are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Meet with homeowners to understand their supplemental heating goals and requirements.
• Ask detailed questions to assess customer needs, including:
• Home size and layout
• Existing heating systems
• Fuel availability
• Installation constraints
• Heating expectations and usage patterns
• Budget considerations
• Recommend appropriate wood, pellet, gas, electric, or other hearth products based on customer requirements.
• Explain product features, benefits, operating considerations, and installation requirements.
• Prepare quotations and sales documentation.
• Follow up with customers throughout the sales process.
• Develop new business through referrals, leads, showroom traffic, and community networking.
• Continuously learn product offerings and industry developments.

Qualifications

Required

• 1–3 years of sales experience involving products used in residential homes or renovation projects.
• Strong ability to uncover customer needs through effective questioning and active listening.
• Practical problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to understand customer situations and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Preferred

• Experience selling fireplaces, stoves, building materials, appliances, windows and doors, kitchens, baths, or similar home-related products.
• Experience interpreting customer requirements and matching products to applications.
• Previous hearth industry experience is considered a strong asset.
