Overview:
The Team Leader directs the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in providing treatment, rehabilitation and support services to identified clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. The Team Leader supervises and evaluates the multidisciplinary team in conjunction with appropriate psychiatric support to ensure excellence in the delivery of respectful, courteous, and professional service. Functioning as a practicing clinician on the team, the Team Leader must be registered or licensed in one of the regulated health professions found within ACTT.
Qualifications:
- BSW, MSW or registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Experience in the field of administrative, human services and office management
- Registration or eligible for registration in a regulated health profession
- Knowledge of mental health/illness and mental health difficulties
- Assessment/ Evaluation skills
- Working knowledge of community resources and agencies
- Cultural Competence for Diverse populations
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Computer literacy and recording skills
- Valid Driver’s Licence Criminal Records Check
- Certification in CPR and First Aid or willingness to obtain same Supervisory and program management experience is desirable.
Duties:

Adherence to all policies of the CMHA Kenora Branch
- Adherence to the Ontario ACTT Standards
- Assurance of confidentiality of all clients, personnel and organizational records and information
- Participation in staff recruitment
- Maintenance of client files and data files including updating of client information consistent with policies and procedures of the CMHA
- Participation in training and educational opportunities
- Maintenance of professional qualifications
- Participation in administrative and office functions
- Shift management as per established policies and procedures
- Direct the day-to-day clinical operations of the ACT Team which includes on-call clinical support to the team on weekdays until 8:00 p.m. weekends and statutory holidays
- On call to support vacation coverage, sick, etc. coverage for the program which includes weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays
- Participate in staff recruitment, orientation, and performance supervision according to the CMHA and ACTT Policies and Procedures
- Develop and maintain program policies and procedures and revise as necessary
- Advocacy, education as indicated
- May provide case management for an assigned group of clients and their families. This includes providing side by side individual support to assist clients in obtaining the necessities of daily living.
- Assessment of client needs and mental status and the development of appropriate treatment plans
- Facilitate and monitor the implementation of client treatment plans
- Participate in daily staff meetings and treatment plan meetings
- Carry out and document quality-assurance activities and reviews of program services
- Initiate and maintain, in collaboration with ACTT staff, working relationships with law enforcement and other human service agencies and with information community resources (i.e. landlords, employers)
- Be available for crisis intervention and for emergency staff supervision and consultation
- Participate on specific Committees or task or work groups as assigned by the Supervisor
- Provide a safe environment by ensuring adherences to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and Policies, Infection Control Guidelines, WHIMIS and Safe Work Procedures; including but not limited to Fire, Disaster and Evacuation Plans
- Ensure client safety and client safety activities are emphasized throughout orientation of new staff members
- Support an environment which avoids, prevents and corrects all activities or actions which may result in an adverse outcome in the delivery of mental health services
- Responsible for self care
- Other duties as required
