Job Description:This position performs intake interviews and crisis intervention procedures, as well as a broad range of addictions and mental health counselling, treatment and education. Clients include youth who are addicted or abusing substances and may be aggressive, depressed, anxious and/or withdrawn, who may live in dysfunctional families and communities and who may be suicidal, traumatized, criminally offending and suffering from significant developmental disabilities. Public education and other primary prevention activities are required as well as a range of integrated case-management services and consults with other organizations and agencies. Within the general mandate parameters and under the general direction and supervision of the program manager, the position independently makes decisions around assessment procedures, intervention strategies, exercising clinical judgment and sound ethical decision making. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Bachelor Degree acceptable to the employer

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge in addictions specific twelve core functions
  • Knowledge in applying a cognitive-behavioral or other major modes of therapy
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Knowledge in treatment modalities for children, youth and their families
