Job Title: Manager, Retail Operations (Mat Leave Coverage)

Reporting To: VP, Marketing & Communications

Role Summary:

The Manager, Retail Operations leads the day-to-day operation and performance of the Foundation’s retail environments, including permanent locations, pop up activations, and community events. This role is responsible for staffing, systems, financial performance, and operational planning, with a focus on reliable execution and sustainable growth.

Responsibilities:

Retail and E-Commerce Operations

  • Oversee retail operations across all Foundation locations, including permanent sites, pop ups, online and community events
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, inventory, finance, point of sale systems, and on-site logistics
  • Ensure retail and event environments meet operational, safety, accessibility, and brand standards
  • Lead operational planning and execution for new retail or experiential space launches
  • Partner with marketing and creative and marketing teams to align retail and event execution with campaign goals
  • Track performance across retail, e-commerce, pop ups, and events, applying insights to improve future execution
  • Develop and maintain repeatable operational playbooks for retail locations and temporary activations

Team Leadership and Management

  • Build, lead, and manage retail operations staff across locations and events
  • Hire, train, schedule, and manage performance with clear expectations and accountability
  • Support staff development through coaching, feedback, and performance management

Financial and Operational Planning

  • Manage retail budgets, forecasts, and performance targets
  • Manage inventory levels, coordinating with the Finance team to maintain accurate stock records and appropriate insurance coverage
  • Monitor sales, margins, and labour costs
  • Identify operational efficiencies and revenue opportunities
  • Prepare clear performance metrics reporting
  • Support special projects as required to advance the Foundation’s priorities and overall mission

Partnerships and Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service partners
  • Coordinate ordering, delivery schedules, and inventory planning
  • Ensure vendor performance meets quality, timing, and cost standards
  • Support planning and feasibility for new retail locations and experiential spaces
  • Collaborate on sponsored activations, partnerships, and community events
  • Track visitor and customer feedback to inform operational improvements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience in retail, merchandising operations, or site management
  • Post-secondary education in business, retail management, hospitality, or a relevant field or combination of experience and education
  • Experience leading teams and managing performance
  • Financial literacy and budget management experience
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems, inventory management, and reporting
  • Experience supporting pop ups, events, or temporary retail environments
