COMPTROLLER
Full-Time Permanent Position - OUT-OF-SCOPE Position

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, 37.5 hours weekly
Classification and Salary: FI4 $75,043 to $90,573 annually
Location: 150 Henry Ave Winnipeg, MB
Vacation: 4 Weeks’ Vacation + 5 Wellness days per year
The Comptroller is responsible for ensuring the Metis Child and Family Services financial operations, financial information systems, policies, procedures and practices are developed and operated in a manner that will result in efficient and effective program delivery within an appropriate system of control and accountability.
The ideal candidate would have demonstrated understanding of Metis culture and communities, or the ability to attain within 6 months. Have the ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information while working effectively in a high volume and time sensitive environment. The ideal candidate will need to work collaboratively within a team, with other community and related service organizations to achieve goals and objectives. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with a high proficiency with Microsoft Office software, be a team player with the ability to use judgement and initiative in dealing with workflow. They will need to have excellent time management skills and be able to apply professional ethical standards and exercise due diligence. The duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: manage the documentation, verification, and maintenance of supporting information for transactions and events for the MCFSA to ensure the integrity of financial information is maintained. Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements tied to funding agreements, including monthly financial statements, monitoring cash flow, and variance reporting, assist with the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of Finance Policy and Procedures Manuals. Assist the CFO with development and maintenance and the insurance policies for MCFSA. Manage the MCFSA day-to-day accounting and month-end processes including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for the MCFSA, maintain MCFSA working papers, and ensure month-end processes for the MCFSA are completed in a timely manner. Assist with the development of Metis CFS system budgets in collaboration with the CFO. Review and approve petty cash reconciliations and bank reconciliations, assist with efficiency initiatives and department projects, provide timely information for stakeholders through various standard and ad hoc reports, and other duties as assigned.
Post-Secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting, Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA) or progress toward completion of designation is required, along with 3+ years of experience working in financial management. Experience using ACCPAC (Sage 300) accounting software is considered an asset. Knowledge/experience in Child and Family Services is considered an asset along with experience working with Metis people.
A valid Manitoba driver’s license and the use of a personal vehicle is preferred as travel within the city and to Metis/First Nations communities may/will be required. Mileage and accommodations if required will be compensated.
