Job Summary:

The Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist is responsible for leading and executing comprehensive testing efforts for large-scale enterprise IT systems. This role involves developing test strategies, plans, and scripts, performing manual and automated testing across GUI and non-GUI environments, and ensuring systems meet functional, performance, security, and compliance requirements, including AODA standards. The specialist collaborates closely with developers, project teams, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities:

  • Advise on testing strategies, test plans, tool selection, and resource identification.
  • Plan and organize testing efforts for large systems including integration, functional, regression, stress, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, and test cases across various system components.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps.
  • Collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
  • Create and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Micro Focus UFT, TestComplete, or Postman.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and participate in Agile ceremonies.
  • Conduct performance, load, and stress testing using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Ensure compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results, coverage, and quality metrics.
  • Provide input for user manuals and release notes.
  • Ensure testing processes comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and QA best practices.
  • Validate data integrity, perform backend and data migration testing, and develop robust test data strategies.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in software testing within enterprise-level IT environments and large-scale systems.
  • Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Postman).
  • Extensive knowledge of AODA testing and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Experience with defect tracking tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, ALM, or Bugzilla.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integration tools including Jenkins, Git, or GitLab.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in quality assurance principles, practices, and structured methodologies.
  • Knowledge of databases such as SQL and Oracle.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash) for automation or test data setup.
  • Familiarity with additional testing tools such as Cypress, TestRail, Zephyr, or TestComplete.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented testing methods and information management principles.
  • Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications.
  • Experience conducting security testing and collaborating with security specialists.
  • Understanding of information retrieval packages.
  • Experience working in public sector environments and familiarity with OPS quality assurance standards.

Special Considerations:

  • Must be available for 5 days onsite as required.
  • Adherence to strict quality assurance standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet aggressive deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
