ISNA Canada is seeking a dedicated and passionate Weekend School Teacher(Saturday AND/OR Sunday) to join our team. The Weekend School Teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering age-appropriate lessons to engage and motivate children in their Islamic studies education. We serve children from senior kindergarten all the way up to grade 12. The ideal candidate will possess prior knowledge of Islamic studies, exhibit the ability to effectively use a variety of teaching methods, and provide support and guidance to students.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare age-appropriate lessons in Islamic studies for your students.
- Deliver engaging and interactive lessons to effectively educate and motivate children.
- Utilize various teaching methods such as storytelling, crafts, games, and other interactive activities to enhance students' learning experience.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Provide guidance and support to students, addressing their individual needs and challenges.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students' parents or guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and address any concerns.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure consistent and comprehensive education delivery.
- Stay updated on relevant Islamic studies topics, educational resources, and teaching methodologies to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during school hours.
- Utilize materials provided by administrators such as but not limited to workbooks, textbooks and Islamic literature.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in teaching, preferably in an Islamic educational setting, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Islamic studies, including Quran, Hadith, Seerah, and Islamic principles, is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and motivate children.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and deliver age-appropriate lessons.
- Proficient in utilizing a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with students, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Patient, compassionate, and able to provide support and guidance to students.
- Committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
- Possess the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- First-Aid/CPR training is preferred.
Requirements:
- Must be available for every Saturday AND/OR Sunday between 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM during the school term (September 2026 - June 2027)
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and meet all necessary employment requirements.
- Must obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening or equivalent background check, as necessary for working with children in an educational setting in the province of Ontario.
- Attend a mandatory training and orientation prior to the scheduled start date
