Description
Reporting to the Clinical Director - Forensic Service, the Clinical Inpatient Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating an interprofessional inpatient team that provides active assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services to clients of the Forensic Service. The Manager oversees clinical and operational activities, supports staff development and evidence-based practice implementation, and ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care. Working closely with Professional Practice Leaders and internal and external stakeholders, the Manager contributes to strategic planning, redevelopment initiatives, budget management, and organizational projects. The role promotes a psychologically healthy, safe, inclusive, and collaborative workplace while ensuring compliance with all applicable legislative, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Responsibilities
The Clinical Inpatient Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating an interprofessional inpatient team that delivers assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services. The role oversees staff scheduling and manages human resources activities, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development. The Manager leads team planning, program development, implementation, and evaluation initiatives while collaborating with Professional Practice Leaders to identify and support staff education and training needs. Responsibilities include providing clinical and operational supervision, promoting the implementation of evidence-based practices, and supporting continuous quality improvement efforts. The Manager contributes to budget planning and monitoring, facilitates the implementation of the organization's Strategic Plan, and participates in organizational planning, projects, and change management initiatives, including redevelopment planning activities. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Manager ensures inpatient services align with organizational objectives, program priorities, and the organization's vision, mission, and values. The role may also represent management in discussions and negotiations with bargaining agents. In addition, the Manager fosters a psychologically healthy and safe workplace, promotes diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and teamwork, and ensures compliance with all applicable legislative, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in nursing, Social Work, or a related field is required, and 5 years of
progressive supervisory experience in a unionized environment OR an equivalent combination of
education and experience. Specialized knowledge of Schizophrenia, as well as specialized
knowledge of the Forensic system, assessment, rehabilitation and risk management would be an
asset. You will also possess strong negotiation skills, combined with an awareness of
professional roles and functions of diverse disciplines within integrated clinical teams, and can
effectively liaise with external programs and agencies. You possess a track record of: managing
an interdisciplinary team; client-centered care; treatment of those with complex mental illness;
and development of linkages/partnerships. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
and communities is essential. You have good computer skills and have a working knowledge of
Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). In addition, you possess excellent
organizational, communication, negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills and have the
ability to work effectively within a dynamic team environment. Bilingualism (English/French) or
proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
