Role overview

A leading full-service law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 3–7 years of experience in commercial litigation and insurance law to join its growing litigation practice. Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on insurance defense and insurance coverage matters.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal analysis.
  • Draft pleadings, motion materials, factums, pre-trial memoranda, and mediation briefs.
  • Prepare correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare for and attend examinations for discovery, mediations, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Represent clients at motions and other court appearances.
  • Participate in business development and professional networking opportunities.
  • Assist with practice management and collaborate with colleagues across the litigation team.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of commercial litigation and/or insurance litigation experience.
  • Experience in private practice or in-house legal roles will be considered.
  • Strong advocacy, legal research, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage files independently while working collaboratively within a team.
  • Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice law in Alberta.
