POSITION FUNCTION:
The 2SLGBTQ+ Support Worker, I Belong Programadministers program activities, provides individual support to clients and facilitates groups and community connections for 2SLGBTQ+ newcomers.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Services
- Provides one to one services to 2SLGBTQ+ clients including needs assessment, information and orientation and referrals
- Organize and deliver 2SLGBTQ+ group sessions
- Organize language support for clients as needed
- Refer ineligible clients
- Direct Services Specific for Case management clients:
- Determine client eligibility
- Performs outreach to clients with multiple and persistent barriers
- Conducts comprehensive needs/strengths assessment for each client
- Develop, revise, and support client action plans that set goals to achieve during the service period
- Assist clients to achieve their action plan
- Provide continuous case monitoring and follow up and prepare clients exiting the program
Administration, database management
- Collect statistical information and assist in preparation of reports to meet funder requirements
- Regularly inform manager on the achievement of contractual outcomes and targets
- Contribute to the development of program planning, facilitation of group work (workshops, field trips, events and social/emotional support groups for clients)
- Work with MOSAIC staff across programs to refer 2SLGBTQ+ newcomers to support groups and other program activities
- Publicize MOSAIC’s programs/services to 2SLGBTQ+ newcomers and regional/community stakeholders
- Represent MOSAIC on the interests of 2SLGBTQ newcomers in community forums and consultations as requested by the Manager
- With the program manager, develop outreach/plan strategy to proactively deliver services to 2SLGBTQ+ newcomers and represent MOSAIC in the community to advocate for 2SLGBTQ+ needs
- In conjunction with manager organize partner/community events to increase referral pathways for clients, build partnerships and highlight the program
- Support manager to Create awareness among 2SLGBTQ+ community, immigrant community, the public, and settlement service providers on specific issues faced by isolated immigrant newcomers due to their gender identities/sexual orientations; addresses cultural sensitivity, marginalization, racism, homophobia, and transphobia
Community/ Stakeholder Relations
- Participate in partnership, departmental, all-staff, and relevant community meetings, in- service training, and other training
- In collaboration with the volunteer team, administer and support volunteers in support of group activities if necessary
Other duties, as assigned by the manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, certificate or diploma or course work in related fields, or a combination of training and experience in an area related to the program, project, or service.
- Knowledge of programs, service linking techniques, immigrant and refugee settlement issues and needs, availability of 2SLGBTQ+ service provision in the Lower Mainland, project coordination and community
development practices
- At least 2 years of program coordination and program delivery in a settlement or social service field; extensive experience in case management, facilitation, training, and public speaking; experience with vulnerable 2SLGBTQ+ newcomers, and experience working with those from diverse cultural backgrounds. Lived personal experience is an asset.
- English communication skills; the ability to speak other languages is an asset

COMPENSATION: $28.58 - $31.03 per hour
HOURS: 35 hours per week. This is a fixed term contract ending March 31, 2028.
A hybrid work schedule may be considered following the onboarding and training period. The successful candidate will initially work on-site until they have demonstrated the knowledge and ability to perform the role independently before any hybrid work arrangement is considered. The successful candidate must be able to commute to the Boundary office location on 5575 Boundary Rd, Vancouver. Monday evening shifts are expected, typically from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
