About the role:
The Regional Cancer Centre at the Southlake Health has an opening for a Full-time Permanent Physics Associate. Located in Newmarket, Ontario, SRCC is the regional cancer centre in the York Region and south Simcoe County, a rapidly growing community north of Toronto.
What you'll be doing:
Aligning with the purpose of SRHC of building health communities, SRCC is to provide advanced radiation treatment to patients in the region, bringing state-of-the-art treatment technology close to home. Equipment in the Radiation Medicine Program includes 4 Elekta Infinity linear accelerators, a Philips big-bore CT simulator and a Pinnacle treatment planning system. A major refresh and expansion capital project is underway for the next three years. It includes replacement of three of the four existing linear accelerators, addition of a new linear accelerator as well as a new PET-CT simulator.
The successful individual will be part of a team of 5 physicists, 2 physics associates, 3 accelerator service technologists and a physics system analyst. Under the direction and guidance of staff physicists, the individual is expected to perform various activities in quality assurance of radiotherapy machines and patient treatment planning, commissioning of equipment, calibration of equipment and devices, documentation, and participation in development of new treatment techniques.
What you'll bring:

A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Science, Engineering or an equivalent

Two years of relevant work experience in Medical Physics, applied science or another related field.

Strong written and oral communication skills,

Willingness to do shift work
