Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for the daily enforcement of the UBCO Traffic and Parking rules and issues citations to vehicles parking in violation of the rules. This position is also responsible for the issuing of parking permits, financial management of all collected monies from ticket dispensers, parking lot maintenance, equipment maintenance, signage and enforcement. This position is fully aware of all aspects of parking at the University and provides information on parking to faculty, staff, public and students.

This position reports to the Manager, Parking Services.

Performs other related duties as required including providing backup for other Parking Compliance Officers and Parking Services Administrative Coordinators.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
This position follows policies and procedures when deciding whether to issue a ticket. Latitude for use of their own judgement exists in situations where leniency can be given which could happen daily and on a frequent basis. Errors of judgment, untimely or inaccurate advice, and inappropriate decisions on procedures or policies could reflect negatively on the department.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Manager, Parking Services. Works under limited supervision while performing their duties.

This position presently has no direct supervision duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.Over one year related experience. Maintain a valid BC Class 5 driver s license. Basic Security Training, Level I & II and/or a valid Provincial Security license, and/or By Law Enforcement Level I course are a definite asset.Knowledgeable in business machines, two way radios, computers, laptop and other related electronic devices and affiliated software.
Demonstrated ability to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
Ability to work to detailed and established procedures, standards, practices and precedents.
Ability to perform in a polite, courteous and tactful manner when dealing with faculty, staff, students and the general public.
Ability to demonstrate good judgment when handling situations.
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 30 kilograms and able to conduct appropriate snow removal where required.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, as well as kneel and crouch, as required to perform operational duties.
