Host/Porter
Position Summary
Host and Porter is responsible for both welcoming guests and providing essential physical support within a hospitality or event setting. This dual role ensures a seamless guest experience from the moment they arrive to when they are seated, checked-in, or helped with their luggage.
Host Responsibilities:
- Greeting and Welcoming Guests: Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide a friendly first impression of the venue.
- Seating and Escorting Guests: Guide guests to their designated seating area or room in a timely and polite manner.
- Managing Reservations and Waitlists: Take and manage reservations, handle guest inquiries, and maintain an organized waitlist when necessary.
- Answering Guest Inquiries: Provide accurate information regarding the venue, menu (if applicable), services, events, and general inquiries.
- Coordinating with Staff: Work closely with waitstaff, kitchen, or event staff to ensure smooth seating arrangements and customer service.
- Handling Customer Complaints: Address and resolve minor guest complaints promptly or escalate issues to higher management when necessary.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure the front lobby or reception area is neat and welcoming for guests.
Porter Responsibilities:

- Transporting Items: Handle the transportation of supplies or items around the venue, including chairs, tables, or equipment for events.
- Room Setup (if applicable): Assist with the setup of rooms or event spaces, ensuring everything is in place before guests arrive.
- Maintaining Guest Comfort: Provide support for guests as needed, including offering directions or helping with special requests.
- Assisting with Event Logistics: Help set up and break down event spaces by moving items and ensuring the venue is prepared before and after events.
- Stock and Supply Management: Ensure adequate stock of items (such as towels, linens, or event materials) and replenish when needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a customer-facing role (e.g., hospitality, retail, or events).
- Physical strength and stamina to assist with carrying and moving heavy items.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
- A professional and approachable attitude.

- Time Management: Efficiently managing time to balance hosting duties and porter responsibilities.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with both front-of-house (guest-facing) and back-of-house (staff) teams.
