Description

As Canada’s largest mental health care provider, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) provides evidence to drive system and policy change through the implementation of innovations and novel service delivery interventions. The Brain Health Imaging Centre (BHIC) is one of the primary research areas of CAMH and focuses on new brain imaging tools and methods used in mental health and addictions for clinical neuroscience research.

The BHIC is seeking a full-time contract (12 months) Program Officer reporting to the Research Operations Manager. This role will work closely with the BHIC Director, Managers, Scientists, Staff, and Trainees. The role will manage and coordinate key initiatives related to the operations of the BHIC and support Managers on day-to-day tasks. The successful candidate will support a workplace which embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide operational and administrative support to the BHIC Director and Managers.

Independently plan and manage small projects.

Manage BHIC research infrastructure and equipment, including service contracts.

Liaise with departments such as Finance, IMG, Procurement, People & Experience, and Research Operations, Services and Support (ROSS).

Develop and implement new BHIC processes as needed.

Support for scientific appointment processes, as well as oversee the registration and onboarding of BHIC personnel, including staff and trainees.

Provide training and support integration of new BHIC research trainees, staff, and scientists.

Monitor and provide an in-depth review of documentation for compliance, completeness, and correctness.

Assist the Director on large scale initiatives.

Prepare documentation and communication.

Support operational activities such as procurement, financial reconciliations, budgets, and invoicing.

Support BHIC research teams with activities related to regulatory requirements, including audits and inspections.

Support with other administrative tasks such as managing and coordinating internal and external meetings.

Provide support to the Director and Managers as needed for other initiatives.

This position is located onsite at CAMH.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or other formal post-secondary education is required.

2+ years of work experience in a scientific research environment serving in a customer service role in a public sector setting.

Experienced in managing projects and drafting formal letters or mass communications.

High level of literacy and numeracy.

Business and/or financial experience (e.g., reading or preparing budgets).

Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion, as well as a genuine interest in supporting scientific research.

Advanced-user knowledge of common office applications.

Ability to quickly find, learn, and assimilate new information.

Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of diverse projects simultaneously.

Ability to capture and articulate risk issues.

Ability to communicate and problem-solve with a diverse variety of stakeholders and team members who may have conflicting interests and priorities.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.

Experience with preparing and managing research funding applications and especially institutional infrastructure funding proposals is an asset.

Experience with drafting scientific grants, progress reports and working in an academic or healthcare environment is an asset.

Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hiring Salary Range:$65,260.62 – $81,575.78 per year (based on qualifications and experience)
  • Full Salary Range: $65,260.62 – $97,890.93 per year (reflecting potential growth within the role)
