Role overview

Engineering Manager – CAD150,000–CAD165,000 – Toronto (Remote)

Do you know how to turn complex engineering challenges into clear, practical solutions? Can you lead a talented technical team while keeping multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines moving forward?

The role

You will join a growing, engineering-led organization delivering advanced HVAC, refrigeration, controls, and building-system solutions across North America. The business is investing in its engineering capability and needs a strong leader who can bring structure, consistency, and fresh thinking to the team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a multidisciplinary engineering function supporting complex HVAC, refrigeration, controls, and building systems.

As Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of controls and mechanical engineers across existing product improvements, new product development, and custom customer solutions.

You will balance technical leadership with people management and hands-on project execution. Your focus will be on creating clear priorities, improving engineering processes, and ensuring every project is properly designed, documented, and ready for the field.

This is a remote position, with preference given to candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop controls and mechanical design engineers.
  • Manage competing engineering priorities without compromising quality.
  • Oversee design modifications based on field feedback, customer demand, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish clear change-control, review, approval, and release processes.
  • Maintain accurate drawings, bills of materials, operating sequences, and technical documentation.
  • Lead new product projects from initial concept through commissioning-ready handoff.
  • Identify integration risks before they become field issues.
  • Create a structured process for reviewing and prioritizing custom engineering requests.
  • Improve engineering standards, system reliability, and overall efficiency.
  • Partner with Sales, Project Management, Field Operations, and external partners.
  • Represent engineering team during proposals, design reviews, and customer meetings.

The Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape engineering processes and team development.
  • Approximately 15–20% travel across North America.

The person

You will bring:

  • Seven or more years of relevant engineering experience.
  • At least three years of team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC/DDC logic, commissioning, and operating sequences.
  • Experience managing professional engineering documentation.
  • Excellent technical and non-technical communication skills.
  • A valid passport and ability to travel.
  • Experience with CO2 refrigeration, grocery retail, new product introduction, or relevant industry standards would be an advantage.
