Role overview

We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant, Support Services to provide backup coverage during absences and to support overflow work across the Firm. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to multiple practice areas while building skills in a supportive and professional environment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, resourceful, and eager to take on new challenges while delivering high-quality support to our lawyers and legal assistants.

What you will be doing:

Format, prepare, proofread correspondence, and legal documents.
Track and diarize critical deadlines and coordinate calendars to ensure smooth file progression.
Provide administrative support including file opening/closure, docket entry, client list maintenance, billing coordination, expense processing, and invoice payments in accordance with Firm policies.
Maintain an organized and current file system for client files.
Step into existing assistant roles during absences and provide overflow support where needed.

Qualifications:

Post-Secondary education in legal administration or equivalent with at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Flexible and adaptable to working with different lawyers, practice areas, and working styles.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Compensation & Benefits:

Loopstra Nixon LLP offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package, including:

Salary range: $55,000 – $65,000 CAD, commensurate with experience
