The Good Spirit School Division invites applications for a Permanent Full-Time Security Person

Yorkton Regional High School

The security person will provide for the care, welfare, safety and security of students and staff.

The duties of a Security Person are to:

  • Develop positive relationships with students and model respectful behavior towards them so that in the event of a crisis situation he is able to de-escalate the situation.
  • Effectively manage individuals that are disruptive, aggressive, or out of control.
  • Discuss school problems and confidential matters only with the appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor vehicles parked on school property and issue tickets to vehicles parked illegally.
  • Patrol hallways and check washrooms and report infractions of rules.
  • Observe traffic and students as they board the school buses and report infractions and/or incidents.
  • Keep grounds clean from garbage.
  • Performs other duties and obligations as assigned by the Principal.

The successful candidate will have the desired qualifications:

  • Knowledge of security operations and procedures
  • Able to conduct patrols
  • Personal and communication skills
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Basic computer and writing skills
  • Security Guard Certificate or License is considered an asset
  • First Aid/CPR is considered an asset

Salary and Benefits:

  • The successful candidate will be paid on a monthly basis at an hourly rate from $21.00 - $23.44 plus applicable vacation pay.
  • Benefits include participation in participation in the Saskatchewan School Board Association (SSBA) Employee Benefits Plan if eligible, and the Municipal Employees' Pension Plan (MEPP) and opportunities to attend professional development seminars.

Applicants not currently working for GSSD will be required to submit a recent (within the last six months) criminal record and vulnerable sector check acceptable to the Board of Education prior to offer of employment.
