Agile Underwriting Solutions (Agile) has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Commercial Underwriting leading our Ontario Region. This is a remote based position, open to candidates in the Greater Toronto Area. We are seeking an experienced underwriting professional with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage teams, broker relationships, and underwriting performance.

Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $92,800 to $116,000. Your rate of pay will be determined based on your individual qualifications and experience while considering internal equity.

The opportunity: As Manager, Commercial Underwriting, you’ll shape the success of our Ontario operations by leading, developing, and empowering a team of underwriters while driving strong broker relationships and profitable results. In this role, you’ll influence key decisions, optimize processes, and help build a high-performing, future-ready team.

In this role you will:

Lead, manage, and develop the underwriting team to deliver strong client service, satisfaction, and retention
Oversee sales and underwriting performance, including renewal retention, rate adequacy, cross-selling, and upselling
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive profitability and operational success
Lead regular team meetings and ensure execution of key initiatives and action items
Support claims resolution and collaborate with internal stakeholders on complex or escalated issues
Drive innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and efficiency
Lead employee attraction, engagement, retention, and development to build a high-performing team
Support organizational change initiatives and promote adaptability across the team

Here’s what you bring:

5+ years of underwriting experience, including at least 2 years in a people management role
CIP or FCIP designation required; undergraduate degree preferred
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
Solid business acumen with a deep understanding of underwriting performance drivers
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a solution-based approach to client service
Strong organizational skills, accountability, and attention to detail
Proven ability to lead teams through high-growth, evolving environments, driving transformation while delivering strong underwriting results and profitable growth
