WHAT'S THE JOB? Our team is growing, and we’re looking for a Junior Structural Engineer to join our passionate, talented team to participate in an exciting mix of local and not-so-local projects. We're looking for someone who will be a strong contributor to on-site work and projects in the construction phase.This role is based in Vancouver, BC. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: • Perform detailed structural design under the mentorship of the principal-in-charge and/or intermediate and senior engineers.• Participate in delivering small to medium-sized projects throughout all design and construction phases, with an emphasis on projects in construction.• Conduct construction site visits. • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with other design consultants, contractors, and suppliers.• Have sound knowledge of codes and standards within the area of design responsibilities.• Deliver project deliverables on time and on budget.• Build positive relationships with clients and help promote our core values.• Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources.• Be creative and innovative in problem-solving.• Work collaboratively with other team members including BIM technicians• Work with a team that is passionate, focused, and dedicated in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.• Contribute to a fun and welcoming work environment. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 2-3+ years of local experience in structural design. • Well-rounded knowledge and experience designing with wood frame, steel, and concrete. Experience with mass timber is an asset but is not required. • Working towards a P.Eng. designation registered in BC.• Ability to work autonomously in a team-oriented environment.• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.• Ability to use programs such as RFEM, S-Concrete, Sizer, or other similar structural analysis software. EXTRA AWESOME: • Understanding and experience with seismic analysis and design.• Master’s degree in structural engineering is an asset. • Experience with architecturally expressive structures.• Working knowledge of American codes and standards is an asset.
