Job Summary

Install, inspect and service parts for automobiles, heavy trucks and mobile equipment to maintain safe and reliable operation. Use diagnostic tools and technical documentation to identify faults and complete repairs to manufacturer specifications.

Main Duties

  • Inspect parts and systems to assess condition and determine repair or replacement requirements.
  • Remove, install and adjust components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and testing procedures to identify faults and verify completed repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services and routine adjustments according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain parts inventory, prepare orders for replacement components and record work performed.
  • Advise technicians or clients on recommended repairs, parts compatibility and maintenance schedules while following safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Completion of a relevant trade program, college certificate or apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Previous experience installing and servicing parts on automobiles, heavy trucks or mobile equipment.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and safe use of lifting equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy parts, work in confined spaces and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, parts diagrams and service bulletins.
