POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced leader to support the evolution of our procurement and supplier relationship management function. As an innovative and strategic partner, you will help the organization deliver the best total value with a focus on quality, planning, fair pricing, timelines, innovation and risk mitigation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the AVP will lead a team of procurement and supplier relationship professionals for a total of approximately 20 employees and consultants including 2 managers. The team oversees a portfolio purchase over $150M annually. BDC is looking for a passionate and committed individual who will develop their team by embracing change, demonstrating openness to different points of view, showing curiosity and a strong sense of responsibility. The role is located in Montreal under a hybrid model within a balance between presence in-person and remotely.

WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LOOKS LIKE

  • Develop and implement procurement and supplier relationship strategies across BDC to ensure consistent and high-quality value delivery of business priorities.
  • Implement best practices, fit to BDC purpose, in procurement and supplier management to support strategic and operational objectives (including the monitoring of policies and directives)
  • Lead and develop a team of high performing procurement professionals in playing a strategic role in BDC’s supplier management as well as cultivate operational excellence in contract management.
  • Design and apply effective process control to comply with BDC’s Procurement policy and directive.
  • Act as trusted advisor to senior executives in matters related to procurement strategies and contract management.
  • Support team members in the conduct of business review meetings with key stakeholdersto assess risk, review future strategies, and identify potential cost down and improvement opportunities.
  • Identify areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results.
  • Manage BDC procurement planning and its capacity (both financial and human resources)
  • Oversee the development and execution of sourcing strategies across all categories within span of control including targets, timelines, and resource/capacity plans.
  • Enhance and scale our Supplier diversity strategy and incorporate ESG priorities of BDC.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree related to the industry and 15+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree related to the business sector and 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Highly recognized ability in leadership and management of supplier teams (10+ employees)
  • Specialized expertise in supplier management
  • Effectively collaborates with others to reach mutually agreeable outcomes and to resolve potential conflicts.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, concise, in both official languages.
  • Builds relationships and works well across functions.
  • Manages competing agendas and priorities across different functional departments.
  • Employs effective time management skills and meets deadlines.
  • Demonstrates prudent judgment when making important decisions by utilizing knowledge of industry best practices and risks assessment.
  • Rigor, focused, resourceful, value creator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technology Procurement experience is an important asset.
  • Proven experience in a senior advisory role to management.
  • Experience in performance management processes and Third-Party Risk Management.
  • Public procurement experience is an asset.
  • Strong contractual drafting and review skills.
