Position Overview
The Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Clerk 2 (ADM03) to provide administrative and data entry support during the implementation of the Agency’s new online database system (AMS).
This role will primarily focus on entering client data that was not successfully migrated from the legacy system into AMS. The successful candidate will support operational continuity while Client Support staff focus on assisting clients and employers with AMS account setup and onboarding activities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative capabilities, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently within established procedures and guidelines

RequirementsKey Responsibilities

  • Perform high-volume and accurate data entry into the Agency Management System (AMS)
  • Review, verify, and update client information and records
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the department
  • Prepare, organize, and file correspondence and documentation
  • Assist with maintaining office records and filing systems
  • Prepare expense claims and administrative forms as required
  • Maintain office supply inventory and petty cash records
  • Distribute inter-office mail and documents
  • Respond to inquiries via telephone, email, and in-person interactions
  • Follow established policies, procedures, acts, rules, and regulations
  • Exercise judgment in selecting the most appropriate work methods for assigned tasks
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Grade XI education
  • Minimum two (2) years of related administrative or clerical experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may also be considered

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to handle repetitive tasks with consistency and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
  • Strong understanding of office administrative procedures

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience working within a government or public-sector environment
  • Experience with database systems, records management, or data migration projects
  • Administrative support experience in a fast-paced office setting

Work Arrangement

  • Onsite role located in Halifax, Nova Scotia
  • Full-time contract assignment
  • Temporary assignment supporting AMS system transition activities
