Role overview

DWK Enterprises Ltd. dba Oishii Express Japanese Restaurant is looking for qualified Cooks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook Japanese food dishes and other menu items according to restaurant standards.
  • Handle daily food preparation, cooking and plating.
  • Ensure all food meets quality, taste and presentation standards.
  • Prepare ingredients, sauces, side dishes and other food items as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation and workplace safety procedures.
  • Monitor food supplies and inform management when ingredients or supplies need to be ordered.
  • Maintain records of food, supplies and kitchen equipment when required.
  • Assist with inventory control and minimize food waste.
  • Work with other kitchen staff and restaurant team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Train and guide kitchen helpers or junior kitchen staff when required.
  • Follow the instructions of the owner, restaurant manager and kitchen supervisor.

Requirements

  • Education: High School
  • Experience: 1-2 years
  • Experience in Japanese cooking is considered an asset.
  • Knife handling skills are required.
  • Knowledge of food safety procedures and kitchen sanitation is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment is required.
  • Must be reliable, organized and able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
