Role overview
DWK Enterprises Ltd. dba Oishii Express Japanese Restaurant is looking for qualified Cooks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Japanese food dishes and other menu items according to restaurant standards.
- Handle daily food preparation, cooking and plating.
- Ensure all food meets quality, taste and presentation standards.
- Prepare ingredients, sauces, side dishes and other food items as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas.
- Follow food safety, sanitation and workplace safety procedures.
- Monitor food supplies and inform management when ingredients or supplies need to be ordered.
- Maintain records of food, supplies and kitchen equipment when required.
- Assist with inventory control and minimize food waste.
- Work with other kitchen staff and restaurant team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Train and guide kitchen helpers or junior kitchen staff when required.
- Follow the instructions of the owner, restaurant manager and kitchen supervisor.
Requirements
- Education: High School
- Experience: 1-2 years
- Experience in Japanese cooking is considered an asset.
- Knife handling skills are required.
- Knowledge of food safety procedures and kitchen sanitation is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment is required.
- Must be reliable, organized and able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
