Role overview

General Manager (Flagship / Corporate Training Location)

Our client is a fast-growing multi-unit operator bringing a popular US fast-casual açaí and smoothie bowl brand into Canada for the first time. This flagship, downtown Toronto location doubles as the brand's corporate training center, and they are looking for a General Manager who can run it at a best-in-system level. This is the deeper, hands-on operator hire for their first market, and restaurant operations expertise is the core requirement.

What You'll Do

  • Own full day-to-day operations of the flagship restaurant, including staffing, scheduling, food cost management, and guest experience
  • Run the franchisee training program, training incoming franchisees on how to open and operate their own locations
  • Build and maintain reliable ordering and inventory processes so the restaurant never runs short on core product
  • Uphold and elevate brand operating standards, bringing full-service hospitality practices into a quick-service environment
  • Step away from the flagship periodically to support new shop openings as the brand scales across Canada
  • Partner directly with ownership to protect team culture and guest experience as the business grows

What You Bring

  • 4-5 years of hands-on experience in restaurant/food service operations across full service, fast casual, or QSR
  • Operational rigor: a track record of tightening scheduling, food cost, and ordering discipline in a live, fast-moving environment
  • A coachable, low-ego leadership style, with the ability to step into an established, high-performing team and earn trust rather than impose change
  • Genuine investment in team culture and staff development, ideally with examples of growing people into bigger roles
  • Comfort holding a full-service level of guest experience inside a fast-casual/QSR format
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with hands-on ownership

Bonus Points

  • Experience training or onboarding franchisees or new location teams
  • Background opening or stabilizing a flagship or corporate training-center location
  • Experience operating within a fast-growing multi-unit or franchise environment

Logistics

  • On-site, downtown Toronto, ON; proximity to the restaurant strongly preferred given store hours and commute
  • 44 hours/week net of breaks; schedule set according to business needs
  • Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 CAD base plus a performance bonus (target ~10%); flexibility above range for an exceptional candidate
  • In-person interview process
