The Role
Our client is a well-established manufacturer seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Buyer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and ensuring production schedules stay on track.
Working closely with Production, Planning, Quality, and Inventory teams, you'll be responsible for sourcing and managing external suppliers for machining, fabrication, coating, bending, honing, and other outsourced manufacturing services while driving cost savings, quality, and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities
- Source and manage suppliers providing outsourced manufacturing services including fabrication, machining, coating, bending, honing, and finishing.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements to achieve the best value.
- Issue purchase orders and monitor deliveries to ensure production schedules are met.
- Coordinate transportation of materials and components to and from external suppliers.
- Build strong supplier relationships while monitoring quality, delivery performance, and responsiveness.
- Resolve supplier quality concerns and coordinate rework activities when required.
- Collaborate with Production, Planning, Inventory, and Quality teams to minimize supply chain disruptions.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP system (Visual ERP).
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous process improvements.
- Evaluate and onboard new suppliers while ensuring compliance with company quality standards.
- Visit supplier locations periodically to support relationship management and validate production capabilities.
Requirements
- College diploma or university degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience purchasing fabricated or machined components.
- Knowledge of supplier quality standards and manufacturing processes.
- Previous purchasing or buying experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, or industrial manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience using ERP systems (Visual ERP is considered an asset).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of procurement best practices, supplier management, and purchasing documentation.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle, with the ability to travel to supplier sites as needed.
