Civil Underground Utilities Foreman

Location: Langley, BC, with travel to projects throughout the Lower Mainland
Compensation: $45–$55 per hour, depending on experience

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Foreman to lead crews installing underground utilities throughout the Lower Mainland.
The successful candidate will coordinate daily field activities, maintain crew productivity, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to project specifications. This role is best suited to a hands-on leader with strong experience in sanitary, storm, and watermain construction who can work closely with project managers, superintendents, operators, and labour crews.

Must Haves

  • Strong civil construction experience focused on underground utilities.
  • Previous experience leading crews on sanitary, storm, and watermain installations.
  • Solid understanding of excavation, trenching, shoring, pipe installation, backfill, and compaction.
  • Experience working around live utilities and coordinating utility locates.
  • Strong leadership, communication, safety, and productivity management skills.
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract and ability to travel throughout the Lower Mainland.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with roadworks, site servicing, manholes, chambers, or deep utility installations.
  • Familiarity with municipal specifications, traffic control, and inspection requirements.
  • Relevant safety certifications such as Ground Disturbance, First Aid, or Confined Space.
  • Experience operating or coordinating heavy equipment and self-performed civil crews.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise civil crews completing underground utility installations.
  • Plan and coordinate daily work, labour, equipment, materials, and site activities.
  • Ensure sanitary, storm, and watermain installations meet drawings, grades, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers and superintendents to maintain schedule and production targets.
  • Monitor crew performance and provide clear direction throughout the workday.
  • Coordinate utility locates and ensure work around existing services is completed safely.
  • Enforce company safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
  • Identify field issues early and communicate them to the project team.
  • Complete daily reports, time records, material tracking, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and productive jobsite.
