Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Position: Full-Time, Permanent, In-person

Droit Ouimet-McPherson Law is a busy law firm serving clients in the areas of wills and estates, real estate, and business law. We are looking for a professional, organized, and dependable Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a professional office environment and is looking to build a long-term career in reception and office administration.

About the Role

As our Receptionist, you will play an important role in creating a positive experience for every client who contacts or visits our office. You will be responsible for a variety of administrative and reception duties while helping ensure the office operates efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting clients and visitors in a warm and professional manner
  • Answering and directing telephone calls
  • Managing appointments and calendars
  • Receiving, processing, and organizing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Preparing and proofreading correspondence and documents
  • Opening and maintaining organized physical and electronic files
  • Assisting lawyers and staff with administrative tasks
  • Keeping the reception area and office organized and presentable
  • Performing other administrative duties as required
  • Drafting Estate Planning and Estate documents

  • Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Learns quickly, follows instructions carefully, and consistently applies feedback
  • Listens attentively, retains instructions, and completes tasks accurately without requiring repeated direction
  • Is proactive, dependable, and follows through on tasks.
  • Takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Has a positive attitude and works well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates strong judgment, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Values punctuality, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Has the flexibility to work additional hours on occasion
  • Is looking to build a long-term career in reception and office administration.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience as a receptionist or administrative assistant in a professional setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism at all times
  • Experience with practice management software (e.g. Cosmolex) is an asset
  • Experience with Teams Phones is an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Wills and Estates is a plus
