Wage range:$44.03 to $56.50 + an additional $9/hour CASA Classrooms premium

About the Role
CASA Mental Health Classrooms are CASA’s new model for school-based mental health service. The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child’s mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher. CASA Mental Health Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.

The Mental Health Therapist will:

  • Work with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens and families.
  • Build specialized parenting skills for caregivers with children who have exceptional needs.
  • Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and their family.
  • Coordinate consultation with others therapists or external partners as appropriate.
  • Supervise and/or precept student placements.
  • Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Active registration and in good standing with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)

Conditions of Employment

  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
