Role overview

Position Overview:

Do you enjoy creating welcoming spaces for families, connecting people with community resources, and supporting children and caregivers to thrive? KCR Community Resources is looking for a Family Hub Facilitator to join our Family Services team in a temporary position providing maternity leave coverage.

In this role, you’ll help create a warm and inclusive environment for families, plan activities that support healthy child development, connect participants with community services and resources, support outreach activities, and work alongside a collaborative team committed to strengthening families in our community. We’re looking for someone who brings strong relationship-building and communication skills, knowledge of community resources, an understanding of child development and family dynamics, and a genuine interest in working with diverse families.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: Family Hub Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare activities and theme days to promote healthy child development.
  • Welcome families to the Hub Centre and community events, fostering a safe and warm environment.
  • Collaborate with the team to organize outreach events accessible to families.
  • Provide one-on-one support to families, offering information, referrals, and assistance in accessing community services.
  • Assist in volunteer recruitment and engagement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of toys, equipment, and shared spaces.
  • Prepare monthly calendars of events and activities.
  • Assist in collecting and compiling monthly statistics for reporting.
  • Ensure participant consent for any photos used on social media platforms.
  • Contribute to social media posts promoting Hub services.
  • Attend team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent related experience.
  • Knowledge of community resources and agencies, with experience in utilizing them for participant benefit.
  • Familiarity with cultural safety for Indigenous and Immigrant families.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
  • Understanding of infant/child development and family dynamics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work select weekends and flexible hours.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license required.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR certification is an asset.
