We are seeking an experienced Production Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership during the critical transition from underground mine development into full production. Working closely with Mine Operations, Technical Services, Geology, and Maintenance, the successful candidate will lead production planning initiatives, optimize mining activities, and ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable production as the operation ramps up.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead short-, medium-, and long-term production planning activities to support safe and efficient underground mining operations.
- Coordinate the transition from mine development to steady-state production while ensuring production targets are achieved.
- Develop and optimize mine production schedules based on operational priorities and resource availability.
- Monitor production performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions to improve productivity.
- Collaborate with Operations, Geology, Survey, Geotechnical, Maintenance, and Ventilation teams to coordinate daily and weekly production activities.
- Review and optimize mining sequences, stope extraction plans, and development priorities.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, forecasts, and performance metrics for site leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve mine productivity, equipment utilization, safety, and operating efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Mine Engineers and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) personnel.
- Support budgeting, production forecasting, and life-of-mine planning activities.
- Ensure engineering work complies with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture by integrating safety considerations into all production planning activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- 7+ years of mining engineering experience, with experience in underground hard rock mining.
- Experience supporting mine start-up, production ramp-up, or transition from development into production is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of underground mine planning, production scheduling, and operational optimization.
- Experience using mine planning software such as Deswik, MineSched, Vulcan, Datamine, or similar.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while working in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
