Job Description:Reporting to the Manager, The Physical Therapist - Senior will act as the clinical leader for the Saskatchewan Spine Pathway and Saskatchewan Spine Pathway Clinic. The incumbent will provide support and direction to the staff physical therapist(s) as necessary, as well as participating in the assessment, treatment, education and evaluation for Spinal Patients.

The Physical Therapist - Degree - Senior will work closely and collaboratively with the referring Primary Care Practitioner and Spine Surgeons to ensure continuity and high-quality care.

Education

  • Bachelor Degree in Physical Therapy

Experience

  • Two (2) years experience in assessment and treatment of Spinal Patients

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Four Patterns of Low Back Pain
  • Ability to plan, organize/coordinate efforts with other team members
  • Ability to employ biopsychosocial approach in provisional care to patients
  • Requires coping skills to work w/clients dealing with stress/psychosocial issues
  • Flexible and adaptive approach to treatment of complex spinal patients
  • ability to communicate effectively with staff, physicians, families.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others as required
  • Good working knowledge of the continuum of Spinal Care
  • Ability to integrate ideas into a team treatment approach
  • Knowledge of community resources

Other Education & Training

  • Current CPR Level C is required
  • Level 3 Cert. in Advances Orthopedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy or greater is preferred

  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists (SCPT)
