Reporting to:VB Sand and Gravel Manager or designate

Type:Full-time

Location:Arkona with travel to other gravel pits as required

Days:Monday to Friday (Some weekends may be required dependent on business needs)

Compensation:$26.00-$30.00/hour depending on experience with screeners or crushers

About the Role

The Loader Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of loaders to move earth, gravel, and other materials along with the crushing and screening of aggregates. This position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day production and site maintenance of our gravel pit.

What You’ll Be Doing.

• Operating a loader to perform daily Sand & Gravel activities
• Screen, crush or load aggregate material within the pits or site
• Assist with site preparation, plant operation and rehabilitation
• Conduct daily pre-operational inspections and report any mechanical issues
• Ensure compliance with applicable Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) regulations, company safety protocols, and environmental guidelines governing aggregate operations.
• Communicate with pit supervisors and other heavy equipment operators to coordinate tasks
• Perform routine maintenance, set up and cleaning of equipment being used

What You Bring to the Table

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating a Loader (preferably in a gravel pit or similar environment)
• Experience crushing/screening of aggregates is an asset
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of safe operating procedures and pit operations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions, including the ability to lift 50lbs
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Other Details

• Travel: Occasional travel within Southwestern Ontario to sites
• Location: Any of the pit sites owned/operated by Van Bree Sand and Gravel
• Please note that this is a non-union position
